Silver Penny

Silver Penny

Publisher: Cypress Choral Music

For: SATB and piano

This is a setting of a poem by Walter de la Mare that tells the sad but dramatic tale of a boy and his sister who pay a boatman a silver penny to take them on a short crossing. Sadly, a storm rises up, and all are lost.

Originally part of a larger work (see Sea Cantata), this has been set separately for an SATB choir of moderate ability accompanied by piano.
