An invitation to University College Dublin has led to a month’s residency in Ireland and a collaborative composition project with UCD Irish scholar Eoin Mc Evoy. Thanks to support in the form of a travel grant from the Canada Council for the Arts, and invitations from both the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics and the School of Music at UCD, I am working on a new composition using an original Irish text by Mr. Mc Evoy. Set for 4 voices SATB, fiddle and 2 Irish flutes, the piece is being workshopped by singers and instrumentalists from UCD. I will update this post as the work develops. At the same time, I’m enjoying the fine spring weather here in Dublin and exploring the area.
